Moondance is a beautiful 35ft Nordhavn trawler. She is made for extended cruising and exploration of beautiful islands and exciting ports of call across the Americas. Recently, this beautiful boat came into the hands of new owners. (That’s where we come in!)
Meet John and Carol:
John is an adventurous soul who seeks the thrill and challenge of travel on the high seas, where he has spent many joyful hours throughout his life
Carol has the soul of an explorer. Though she has remained landlocked for most of her years, the times she has spent at sea are some of her fondest memories.
Let’s not forget Snoopy! (Woof!)
Snoopy is a well travelled, smart, sweet and adorable Border Collie mix who has jumped in to make everything better. (That’s what dogs do)
For the last few years, this crew of seekers has been living their travel dreams by motorhome and exploring what the land has to offer. There is so much beauty to be found simply by taking a drive.
Now it is time to expand upon those travels…off to sea with you, mateys!
Together these two have dreamed, planned, saved and (frankly) lucked their way into the beginning of a great adventure at sea and they are inviting you to follow along as they learn their boat, test their mettle and discover their world.
Past - Present - Future
We started out together in a small apartment in Louisville Kentucky in 2013. I was an Electrical Controls Engineer traveling the country. My wife Carol took to traveling with me on our projects often helping the team in the field. We worked together and saw many places from New York to California. Living in hotels for months at a time, we explored and met people from coast
Years of home ownership led to dreaming of traveling and retiring. Soon we were in our first RV motorhome. We sold our house and began traveling the country. We started small and then went large with our RV. We learned how to live managing our waste and electric and operating in a close environment. Not something all couples can do, but we were lucky and made it work.
We were Nordhavn dreamers at this point. We considered ourselves in training for living aboard a boat for our next adventure. We upgraded our motorhome as a final chapter in our RV life and began shopping for a motor yacht.
After years in our new RV we purchased Moondance, our Nordhavn 35 and moved in full time. Now we are selling this beautiful RV. Click below for details. (soon to come).
Moondance, is hull number 20 out of 24 of the famous, purpose built, Nordhavn 35. She is a friendly reminder of why boating enthusiasts began to even consider cruising – to get out on the water with that special someone and enjoy the world’s spoils.
She is both light and airy, while also robust and stout. The Nordhavn 35 was built with the sole intention of giving a couple like us a large enough vessel to remain comfortable while on the water, and small enough for a crew of two to manage with absolute ease.
The Nordhavn 35 could be considered a “sedan” layout with the entry level comprising the saloon and helm station. Moondance is operated from a two-person helm bench. The navigation equipment is mounted above the helm for easy reach. Outboard to starboard is an opening window if you need to communicate with crew on the dock.
Galley
The galley is a down configuration. We can pass food up to the saloon and have an opening window outboard to enjoy the breeze. Stainless steel sink, stove, oven, microwave, refrigeration, freezer – primary cooking needs in a compact area.
Owner stateroom
The stateroom is forward under the foredeck. Up front, doors open up to inspect the chain locker and there is an upholstered reading seat. A built in teak bureau with drawlers to starboard. The large bed is positioned athwartship in an “island” configuration for easy in and out access. Overhead hatch and opening windows outboard add to the dorade vent air circulation.
Engine room
This is an engine room where we can easily crawl around to get to serviceable items. Entering the door, we can go along the starboard alley and can head aft behind the engine to go forward up the port alley. This area is well lit and provides very good access.
· Yanmar 6LYA-STP 370 HP
· Northern Lights 6kW with sound shield
· Wet exhaust
